Born in Sandusky Ohio, Mark Posta at the young age of seven was introduced to tennis at Baywinds Athletic Club. To support his son’s new found love and enthusiasm for the sport, his dad took a second job working for the Club to provide Mark a membership and needed coaching. Throughout his teens, Mark also worked at Baywinds to help finance his ongoing training expenses. Tirelessly working every position from janitor to Tennis Pro, he learned all aspects of the ins and outs of a tennis country club operation.
The passing of Mark's father at the young age of fifteen marked a turning point in his life as tennis became an outlet for him to grieve. During a match, Mark directed his focus on the opponent and the ball, shaping his philosophy that tennis can be therapeutic. These experiences as a junior framed Mark's belief that tennis should be accessible to any and all who desired to play the game, and that tennis can be a form of therapy and healing.
Relentless hours of practice and focused dedication, paid off for Mark. Along with over a hundred career wins at St Mary’s Central Catholic High School, he was able to achieve four (4) time Ohio State Qualifier, two (2) time District Champion and two (2) time Sectional Champion. The way Mark strived through turmoil and difficulty in his young life, earned him special recognition by the Ohio House of Representatives. They presented him with the Firebrands Positive People Living Award to honor Mark's positive attitude through difficult times. Mark went on to play tennis at Youngstown State University where he was an NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Scholarship Recipient.
During his college years, Mark worked part time at the Liberty Racquet Club where he was soon promoted to Head Tennis Professional. Gaining valued management experience, he then took a position with the local Avalon Golf and Country Club. He was the Club’s first Tennis Pro where he learned how to maintain six (6) Har – Tru clay based tennis courts and to administrate employees and staff.
While at Avalon, Mark launched a very successful Junior Program with a total of 25 kids the first year, growing to 45 the second year with them becoming League Champions. Also in his first year at Avalon Country Club, he created two (2) league competitive Ladies Teams. Just in their second year, one of his teams became League Champion. All this time, Mark’s tennis playing career continued to rise becoming the No. 1 singles player at Youngstown State University. These years were crucial not only to his game but in developing his business acumen and management skills.
Additionally, Mark became a Board Member of the Trumbull County Tennis Association. His love for the sport continued to expand beyond playing. Soon he was tasked with promoting and organizing monthly Tennis Socials, bringing together tennis players from different area clubs to compete in a fun supervised event. Mark also took on the challenging role of Tournament Director, successfully running six (6) annual tennis tournaments as a main Fundraiser to help make tennis more accessible to everyone in the area.
From this point Mark realized that he wanted to make tennis a full time career. To further immerse himself and continue to learn his craft, he wanted to move to a major year round tennis mecca. He chose South Florida as the best place to further expand his experiences and knowledge to mastering the game of tennis. Beginning as a Tennis Pro at the Country Club of Boca Raton, Mark was soon recruited and hired as the Head Tennis Professional at the Prestigious Hawks Landing Club. There he learned how to instruct group and private lessons at the Academy Level, as well as organize and run team practices as the Director.
To help care for his ailing brother, Mark moved back to Ohio where he created his own Tennis Academy. He also developed for the local community, adult and junior programs for all levels. His Junior Level program grew to where he coached and developed over sixty junior players. It was at his Academy that Mark designed a program to educate tennis players how to teach the sport to advance the growth of tennis in a “non-tennis” established area. This was the second instance where he fostered a very successful program from scratch when there had been no previous program.
Following his brother's death, Mark made the decision to move to Venice, California, an entirely different top year-round US tennis region. It was in California that he partnered with another instructor, Pete Fox. Together the two began to advocate and bring tennis programs to the City of Santa Monica where their combined efforts resulted in the largest Junior Program, growing from seven (7) to over a group of one hundred (100) diverse background kids.
Missing family, Mark made the decision to move closer to them moving to Greenville, South Carolina. It is here he created Love Tennis Management Services to serve the Greater Greenville Area. Mark’s main objective is to help develop and manage underutilized HOA community, hotel properties, and other private / public tennis courts. His desire is to provide tennis to as many people as possible in the Upstate of South Carolina.
Mark credits much of his success in coaching, teaching and tennis management to his ability to work with the many diverse people and cultures he met along the way throughout the North, East, West and South Regions of the United States. His high level of tennis management, organizational skills and experience coupled with his relentless enthusiasm and ever apparent love for the game, draws people to work with Mark.
